Kulla Fransworth

Project

A modern reinterpretation of the Fransworth House through Albanian identity. Kulla Fransworth takes the pure language of Mies van der Rohe's modernism — minimal structure, transparency and a direct relationship with the landscape — and brings it into an entirely Albanian context.

The volume lifted above the terrain creates a strong contrast between the light, transparent structure and the mass of natural stone. Inside, traditional Albanian motifs become decorative architectural elements, giving character and identity to a modern form.

The project explores how tradition can be integrated into contemporary architecture without losing its authenticity — mountain landscape, stone, light and Albanian ornament as parts of one composition: a dialogue between international modernism and Albanian heritage.
